Workforce Development
Gemini is transforming the extractive practices of the clean energy and energy efficiency industry. Today, the field is dominated by older, white, males. Today, we have an extractive economy. Tomorrow, the field will look like the communities it serves. Tomorrow, we will have a regenerative clean energy economy.
Job Market Boost for the Entire Community
Direct Job Creation
Gemini hires, trains, and deploys local data collectors and field supervisors to conduct energy audits.
- Keep it Local: Workforce development partners -- already embedded in the community -- help recruit and screen candidates.
- Pay a Fair Wage: We offer good-paying jobs that help people break into the clean energy industry.
Indirect Job Creation
The energy audits themselves spur demand for clean energy solutions, implemented by local, trusted, and -- when possible -- minority-owned contractors.
- Open the Door to Opportunity: Gemini can serve as a stepping stone for industry newcomers. They learn useful skills and get exposure to the clean energy landscape. When it's time to move on, Gemini helps them transition to a new opportunity.
- Generate Demand: Millions of small commercial buildings require energy efficiency and electrification upgrades in this country. Energy audits are just the first step. We also need reliable contractors to implement these clean energy solutions.
Diversifying the Workforce Across America
The new economy can't make the same mistakes as the old one. Gemini is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to ensuring a more diverse workforce, with experience implementing equitable practices in the following regions:
Virginia | California | Memphis, Tennessee | North Carolina

Training Tomorrow's Clean Energy Leaders
Historically Black Colleges and Universities [HBCUs] are an anchor in the Black community. What better place to start on our mission to diversify the workforce and increase awareness about clean energy opportunities?

Anthony Kinslow II, Ph.D., Founder & CEO, Gemini Energy Solutions
If an opportunity exists, but you do not know about it or you do not have access to it… is it really an opportunity? My name is Anthony Kinslow, II the CEO and Founder of Gemini Energy Solutions, an energy audit and cleantech startup. I graduated from an HBCU myself—North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. (Aggie Pride!) One of the reasons I started Gemini was address the lack of diversity in the clean energy field.
Felicia Davis, Founder & Director, HBCU Green Fund
My name is Felecia Davis. I am the Founder and Director of the HBCU Green Fund. In particular, we are working with Gemini Energy Solutions, who is training all of our fellows to actually be data collectors for energy efficiency audits, which is fundamental to moving forward with clean energy, particularly in the black community.
Anthony Kinslow II, Ph.D., Founder & CEO, Gemini Energy Solutions
The same black community that has been robbed of critical resources. Historically, HBCUs have been underfunded, and over the last thirty (30) decades over $12.8 billion have been withheld. Gemini’s HBCU program finds the students most passionate about making a difference through the clean energy sector, trains them and helps them break into the field.
Serena Echols, Spelman College, AUC Energy Fellow
One of the things that really made me want to be a part of this fellowship is to mend the gap between people of color and them getting left behind and unsustainable energy.
Anthony Kinslow II, Ph.D., Founder & CEO, Gemini Energy Solutions
Serena is one of the ten (10) students that is part of our HBCU Green Fund project, specifically the AUC Energy Fellows. At this point, we have trained ten (10) students from (3) three HBCUs: Morehouse, Spelman, and Clark Manor. They will conduct energy artist for those school’s buildings, kickstarting the clean air transformation right at home.
Noah Bacon-Angevine, Morehouse College, AUC Energy Fellow
I am really, really enjoying the just the vision and the idea that that Gemini has in trying to make sure that minorities have a place in and energy reliability in the sector, but also in the technological changes we want to see.
Anthony Kinslow II, Ph.D., Founder & CEO, Gemini Energy Solutions
Over the next three years. Gemini and our partners plan to bring at least fifty (50) HBCUs into the fold, each one a callus for both students and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Reginald Parker, Ph.D., President & Founder, Optimal Tech
Investing in themselves is an area of clean energy. They will turn to themselves for clean air, clean water, clean land—we share this planet. If we do not take a stand in making it better, it is only going to affect us more.
Anthony Kinslow II, Ph.D., Founder & CEO, Gemini Energy Solutions
A tangible example to show the economic and health benefits from a clean energy transformation--
proof that one of the anchors of the black community can be an accelerant for the clean energy transformation for the entire country.
